Oncology and clinical leadership will be provided by David J. Kerr CBE, MA, MD,
DSc, FRCP (Glasgow and London) FMedSci, Chief Medical Officer of ClinOx.
David Kerr is Rhodes Professor of Therapeutics and Clinical Pharmacology at the
University of Oxford and was Director of the National Translational Cancer
Research Network (NTRAC) from 2001 to 2006. He is working with colleagues in
Oxford to establish a new Institute for Cancer Medicine. He has an
international reputation for the treatment of and research into colorectal
cancer and he is developing new approaches to cancer treatment which involve
gene therapy.
He has initiated and delivered more than 30 phase I/II trials over the past
twenty years. David has been awarded several international prizes in
recognition of the quality of his work, including the first Nye-Bevan award for
innovation. He has published more than 350 articles in peer-reviewed journals
and has contributed to many books on cancer. He is a member of the National
Cancer Taskforce and the Commission for Health Improvement, he has led a major
cancer pathway re-design project, he produced the Kerr Report (20 year plan for
Scotland’s NHS) and he is Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Oncology, Europe’s
premier medical oncology journal.
